“Sherman is an intrepid Bach player whose technical assurance, rhythmic control, tasteful ornamentation, clear articulation, and sense of style are matched by the instrument’s authentic compatibility with each of the works presented. His decades of experience with this organ yield a rich harvest of tonal variety perfectly coupled to the music at hand. Just one example is his use of the Pedal 2’ Cornet combined with the 2’+1’ Nachthoorn playing the cantus line, accompanied by the 8’ Regaal of the Borstwerk, in the chorale prelude “Wie nach einer Wasserquelle.” Through many other creative registrations, contrasting individual voices with various combinations and ensembles, the listener is treated to an aural feat that confirms the sterling beauty of this famed instrument, cradled in a an acoustically gratifying environment.”

Hello Roger,

I just listened to your performance of Bach's g minor Fugue, BWV 542b, from your new recording at Saint Mark's. The fugue was breathtaking! So often it sounds like the player is working too hard (probably is) to get through the piece - or can't wait to get through the piece. Your rhythm was so toe tappin' natural, particularly on the subject. You sounded like you were dancing and really enjoying it! So, I just sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed it along with you.

The way the lowest note in the subject fit in. just natural, unobtrusive, but right, was a joy to hear!
